Rupert Sheldrake - The Science Delusion
December 27, 2012
British biologist Dr. Rupert Sheldrake, one of the world's most innovative scientists, is the author of more than 80 scientific papers and ten books and is best known for his groundbreaking theory of morphic resonance. In this program we discuss Rupertís latest book "The Science Delusion." He begins with an overview of the ten dogmas of science. According to these dogmas, all of reality is material or physical, the world is an inanimate machine, nature is purposeless, free will is an illusion, notions of higher orders of consciousness and absolute "God" awareness exists only as ideas in human minds, which are themselves nothing but electrochemical processes imprisoned within our skulls. These powerful assumptions, have led science down the wrong path according to Rupert. He explains how originally the scientific field held a kind of Cartesian dualistic view of spirit and matter, which eventually was replaced solely by matter. The scientific view that matter is "dead" and has no soul or spirit is dangerous, argues Sheldrake. Later, we talk about the Large Hadron Collider, the most expensive scientific project in the history of mankind. Rupert explains that the results in the search for the "Higgs field" and the so called "God particle" might very well be influenced by the intention of the scientists performing the experiment, also known as the observerís effect. Lastly, Sheldrake tells us about the biotech bubble and shares his opinion on what alternative fields of science he would like to see funded.

As far as "Nature" and "Reality" are concerned, Sheldrake is on the right path. But there are others way up ahead with experiencial knowledge, not just theories. One of those was the late, great Jack True, a remarkable and astoundingly innovative therapist who discovered amazing things about what "Reality" was and how "inside the mind" is the world we see aound us, while "Outside the mind" is the limitless, infinite expanse we can reach when we close our eyes.
For more info on Jack True's discoveries read the three-volume set of interviews of him done by Jon Rappoport , which are found in "THE MATRIX REVEALED, Vol #1 "

Everything has consciousness.
We need more scientists like, Rupert I think .

Good interview
There is an "Esoteric" concept that all creatures have an overseeing spirit entity. More than the idea of group consciousness or group karma the instinctive natures of different creatures being supported by this overseeing spirit. This seems to tie into this presentation. The idea that as the overseeing spirit comes to know so do all those under in it's association. The same is true, I believe with the consciousness of humanity. As more people become more "Aware" it becomes easier for everyone to become more aware because of the access to the common overseeing spirit.

Yes indeed
I'd just like to add my voice to all those who have enthused here about the interview with Rupert Sheldrake. He is one of the people who maybe can best bridge the gap between 'the mainstream' and 'the alternative'. Hope to have him back in the New Year, Henrik.

I am relieved - re-lived and reviled
Referring to comment number 15, a textbook example of why you should never send anything anywhere when you are drunk. I don't even know what the last sentence means and I wrote it! I think I was trying to say that I loved this interview, it lifted my spirits and I look forward to the next one. Thankyou!

So good to hear again from Mr. Sheldrake at the end of this odd year.
The Trialogues between him, Ralph Abraham and Terence McKenna were my biggest source of inspiration of 2012.

I am relieved
Even though I almost always think that "there's a lot more to life" than there appears to be, sometimes I get sucked into the mechanics of "what's the point, I'd rather be dead". Thankyou Rupert, I was on that downward spiral and this has really cheered me up. Ha ha Richard Dawkins. Although that sounds unkind, I'm approaching my statement in the spirit of John Lash's "last interview" and lashing out in public.

I was dismayed to see that this was a short interview, but delighted to hear that Dr Sheldrake is returning soon. It is so refreshing to have a highly qualified scientist challenging the orthodoxy, I've followed his fascinating work for years. Henrik, your introduction did made me wince, he's not Mr Sheldrake, he has a Ph.D - just a minor matter in an excellent interview!

A great guest and interview
Thank you for a really interesting interview with Rupert Sheldrake! His understanding of science principals and assumptions and their history helps to clarify the political problems and dogma that weigh scientific and phenomenological experience down. What a nice way to end the year and embrace the new one. Thanks again!
